As part of the Ministry of Transportation’s strategic plan aimed at facilitating and increasing the efficiency of postal services to better serve the general public and users

20th April 2013

As part of the Ministry of Transportation’s strategic plan aimed at facilitating and increasing the efficiency of postal services to better serve the general public and users, Bahrain Post, in cooperation with the e-Government Authority, launched a new mobile service for parcel tracking. The new service, which is set to become the preferred choice for carrying out postal transactions, will serve in reaching a wider audience and be at par with the latest technologies for doing business.

On this occasion, His Excellency Mr. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Minister of Transportation stated that this service will enable users to track their shipments online from point of origin to final destination via the mobile application. Moreover, users will be able to access information on the various postal services and offerings including post office locations and working hours as well as calculate postage fees in multiple currencies. Users can download the application directly from the E-Government portal’s mobile and smart phone application section which also includes other smart phone applications and services.

With the introduction of this latest application, Bahrain Post now offers two services that are readily accessible on the Bahrain E-Government Portal. The first service offered was the renewal and payment of mailboxes which is now complemented with this additional service which enables the tracking of postal packages.

His Excellency further added that the mutual cooperation between Bahrain Post and the e-Government Authority has resulted in significant advancement in facilitating e-services, and the two services currently offered are only two of many to follow in the future and that aim in further facilitating e-services’ efficiency and effectiveness.

The launch of such services represents moves towards increased integration within government- provided services and delivering seamless interactivity to users. With ongoing cooperation between ministries to introduce more services via the e-government portal, the government will be able to achieve its desired objective of integration and streamlining of services. MoT will continue to support this objective by introducing new e-services via Bahrain.bh on the areas of land transportation and marine services, which will be announced in the future.
