The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications’ Meteorological Directorate reported in their monthly weather summary that the month of  September 2021 was slightly warmer than normal in temperatures and above-average wind speed.

The mean temperature of the month was 33.9°C which is 0.7°C above the long-term normal for September and this goes on record as the sixth-highest mean temperature for September since 1902. Note that the highest mean monthly temperature for September was 34.8°C recorded in 2020.

The mean maximum temperature of the month was 37.8°C which is 0.1°C above the long-term normal. Note that the highest mean monthly maximum temperature for September was 39.8°C recorded in 2020.

During the month Bahrain had 4 days with a maximum temperature exceeded 40°C. The highest temperature recorded during the month was 42.3°C which occurred on the 4th September at Bahrain International Airport. Note that the highest temperature recorded for September at Bahrain International Airport was 45.5°C which occurred on 4th September 2013.

The highest temperature recorded in September was at Bahrain International Circuit which was 46.0°C on the 3rd September 2021 and at Durrat Al Bahrain which was 44.1°C on the 6th September 2021.

The mean minimum temperature of the month was 30.9°C which is 1.4°C above the long-term normal and this goes on record as the sixth-highest mean minimum temperature since 1946. Note that the highest mean    monthly minimum temperature for September was 31.5°C recorded in 2015.

The lowest temperature recorded was 27.6°C on the 29th September at Bahrain International Airport but recorded 24.9°C on the 23rd September at Durrat Al Bahrain.

The mean relative humidity for September was 54% whereas the mean maximum relative humidity was 71% and the mean minimum relative humidity was 35%. The maximum relative humidity was 82% recorded on the 30th September and the minimum relative humidity was 10% recorded on the same day.      

September 2021 was the second sunniest September since the sunshine records began in 1968. The total hours of sunshine for the month was 339.0 hours and only exceeded by September 2014 which was 339.8 hours.

The Mean wind speed for September was 9 knots. The prevailing wind was 44% from the Northwest direction. Gust winds reached 34 knots on the 26th September at Bahrain International Airport. The Easterly to Southeasterly winds accounted for 14% of the observation.

Dust was reported on the 26th September. Visibility dropped to 1500 meters at Bahrain International Airport.
