26 March 2023

The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications’ Ports and Maritime Affairs has launched its first competition for the ports and maritime transport sector under the name of “Minaei” Award, with companies that meet all license requirements issued by the Ministry eligible to compete in this award.

Accordingly, a specialized evaluation committee was formed to select the leading company in the port sector - port operators - and passenger maritime transport services to compete and excel by measuring the extent of compliance with the laws related to the license issued by the Ministry. Furthermore, companies that show evidence of social responsibility activities or initiatives, innovation and use of technology activities or initiatives and accreditation (ISO or others) will be granted bonus points.

The “Minaei” award, which is unique of its kind, was launched with the aim of creating a new philosophy and developing an innovative approach for carrying out governmentally regulated work, motivating and encouraging companies operating in the port and maritime sector to comply with laws and regulations related to port and maritime affairs. The goal is to shine a spotlight on the industry both regionally and internationally and to further enhance the position of the Kingdom's port and maritime industry.

Awards will be given to the best private jetty (industrial jetties), the best private jetties (building materials, services, etc.), the best passenger transport jetties, and the best passenger marine transport company.
