New Air Traffic Control Center Building
The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications’ Air Navigation Systems Directorate in cooperation with Ministry of works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning kicked-off the New Air Traffic Control Center
The new Area Control Centre (ACC) project is one of the largest development projects that will improve the air traffic services provided at Bahrain International Airport and Bahrain Flight Information Region (FIR) in the interest of safety and efficiency of air traffic in accordance with the International Standards , and Policies of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The building will be equipped with an Integrated Air Traffic Management System using a state-of-the-art technology in addition to advanced systems for processing radar information and flight data, Integrated Voice Communication System and Air Traffic Control Recording System. The new ACC building includes 16 dual air traffic control work positions and 6 air traffic control assistance positions.
The new ACC will be one of the most modern centers in the region, supported by the latest technology in the field of air traffic management systems in order to serve the aviation sector, cope with the growth of air traffic in the region and ensure sustainability of Bahrain FIR. Additionally, this project will enhance the skills and capabilities of Bahraini personnel working in different departments to provide high level services and safe operations at the Kingdom of Bahrain.
This new ACC will contribute to the leading role of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the air navigation sector, as it is currently providing air traffic services to more than 600,000 transit flights annually in the Bahrain Flight Information Region.
