As part of the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications’ (MTT) goals on upgrading and modernizing the Kingdom’s public transport system and enhancing its service facilities and supporting infrastructure across this sector,

As part of the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications’ (MTT) goals on upgrading and modernizing the Kingdom’s public transport system and enhancing its service facilities and supporting infrastructure across this sector, a major re-construction project is underway for all bus shelters and bus stops across the Kingdom where 296 locations have been done to date. The ministry is continuing to construct bus shelters and to increase the number of air-conditioned bus shelters. The ministry also constructed 26 air-conditioned shelters.

As for bus laybys, the Ministry constructed 76 laybys during the period from 2016 to 2021

In line with the advanced transportation systems, the ministry has completed setting up of 59 on street stopes in cooperation with the General Directorate of Traffic and Ministry of Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs.

The Ministry has also introduced taxi pylons in 17  taxi stops in the Capital Governorate as a first step to develop the taxi stops in the Kingdom of Bahrain
