His Excellency Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, participated in the Tree Week activities held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Muharraq. His Excellency planted several trees alongside a group of Ministry officials, in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to launch this year’s Tree Week initiative as part of the national efforts to expand green spaces and promote afforestation across the Kingdom of Bahrain.
This initiative comes within the framework of implementing the Bahrain’s National Afforestation Plan which aims to plant 3.6 million trees by 2035 as part of the Kingdom’s vision to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
On this occasion, His Excellency the Minister emphasized that the Tree Week reflects Bahrain’s commitment to increasing green spaces and achieving environmental balance. He highlighted the Ministry’s dedication to integrating sustainability principles into its various projects and initiatives. His Excellency added that this event embodies the deep-rooted environmental awareness within Bahraini society and demonstrates the nation’s commitment to preserving the environment and developing natural resources to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.
His Excellency further noted that the Ministry’s participation in the Tree Week reflects the spirit of national cooperation, stressing that achieving the goals of the afforestation plan requires joint efforts among government entities, institutions, and individuals. He underscored the importance of enhancing public awareness and embedding sustainability as a national value that contributes to building a more prosperous and stable future for the Kingdom of Bahrain.
