The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications’ Meteorological Directorate reported in their monthly weather summary that the month of    November 2020 goes on record as the warmest November ever experienced in Bahrain since 1902.

The mean temperature of the month was 26.2°C which is 1.9°C above the long-term normal for November and this goes on record as the highest mean temperatures for November since 1902. The old record was 26.0°C recorded in November 1954 and 2017.

The mean maximum temperature of the month was 29.3°C which is 1.6°C above the long-term normal and this goes on record as the fifth-highest mean maximum temperature for November since 1946. Note that the highest mean monthly maximum temperature for November was 29.9°C recorded in 2004.

During the month Bahrain had 14 days with a maximum temperature exceeded 30°C. The highest temperature recorded during the month was 33.3°C which occurred on the 6th November at Bahrain International Airport but recorded 33.5°C on the 2nd November at Bahrain International Circuit.

The mean minimum temperature of the month was 23.3°C which is 2.1°C above the long-term normal and this goes on record as the second highest mean minimum temperature for November since 1946. This is the same as November 1954 and only exceeded by November 2017 with a record of 23.4°C.

The lowest temperature recorded was 19.8°C set on the 25th November at Bahrain International Airport but recorded 16.4°C on the same night at Durrat Al Bahrain.

The mean relative humidity for November was 60% whereas the mean maximum relative humidity was 73% and the mean minimum relative humidity was 40%. The maximum relative humidity was 83% recorded on the 9th and the minimum relative humidity was 15% recorded on the 2nd.

Series of fast-moving upper troughs across the Northern parts of the Arabian Gulf caused cloudy conditions over the Kingdom and leads to light to moderate rain in several places.

Only 0.5 mm of Precipitation was reported in November 2020 at Bahrain International Airport. Trace amounts were reported on 13th and 29th November. Note that the long-term mean total precipitation for November is 3.8 mm and the highest monthly rainfall ever recorded during November at Bahrain International Airport was 146.8 mm which occurred in 1940.

Light rain was reported in some areas on Sunday 8th November.

The total monthly precipitation recorded for November 2020 at Sitra Island was 1.8 mm whereas the total precipitation at Bahrain International Circuit was 1.4 mm, at Durrat Al Bahrain was 1.2 mm and at King Fahd Causeway was 0.4 mm.

The Mean wind speed for November was 7 knots. The prevailing wind was 33% from the Northwest direction. Gust winds reached 30 knots on the 23rd and 24th November at Bahrain International Airport. The Easterly to Southeasterly winds accounted for 32% of the observation.
