Bahrain participates in Digital Cooperation Organisation 5th General Assembly

The Kingdom of Bahrain participated in the Fifth General Assembly of the Digital Cooperation Organisation (DCO) and the second International Digital Cooperation Forum (IDCF), held in Kuwait.

The Forum was chaired by Omar Al Omar, Kuwait’s Minister of State for Communications Affairs.

Leading the Bahraini delegation, Shaikh Ahmed bin Isa Al Khalifa, Acting Director of Telecommunications at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to advancing international cooperation in digital transformation and the digital economy. He reiterated Bahrain’s support for the Artificial Intelligence Treaty initiative, aimed at establishing a global framework for the safe, ethical, and responsible use of AI technologies.

The Assembly focused on strategic initiatives to enhance digital governance, investment in the digital economy, and regulatory frameworks for emerging technologies, fostering multilateral collaboration amid rapid digital change.

During the event, discussions were held to strengthen regional digital cooperation, including a proposed letter of intent for the “Data Embassy” initiative between Bahrain and Kuwait, underscoring shared commitments to digital sovereignty and secure data governance.

Bahrain expressed gratitude to Kuwait for its excellent organisation and hospitality, and congratulated Pakistan on its upcoming presidency of the DCO.
