H.E. Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, received H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, Minister of Transport in Qatar.

The visit aimed to explore opportunities for enhancing economic and investment cooperation between the countries, and to exchange technical expertise in land transport, railways, maritime navigation, and civil aviation.

The two ministers affirmed their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, with a focus on expanding strategic collaboration in transportation and infrastructure development.

H.E. Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed emphasised Bahrain’s keenness, guided by the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to advance integrated efforts with Qatar across key sectors. He stressed the importance of enhancing land, sea, and air connectivity, promoting logistics services, and supporting joint projects that serve the development goals of both countries within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) framework.

The two sides reviewed strategic initiatives, including the proposed 40-kilometer Bahrain–Qatar Causeway and a joint maritime linkage project. These initiatives are designed to promote sustainable development, facilitate the movement of people and goods, and enhance trade, tourism, and logistics across the region. They also aim to boost supply chain efficiency, attract joint investment, create new job opportunities, and reinforce the deep economic and cultural bonds between Bahrain and Qatar.

The ministers agreed on the need to accelerate the implementation of these projects and to develop related infrastructure and logistical services. They proposed the formation of joint working groups to oversee progress in line with global best practices. Both sides expressed confidence that these projects would serve as important contributions to the GCC’s economic integration, especially alongside the GCC railway network, which is scheduled for completion by 2030.

H.E. Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed affirmed Bahrain’s readiness to support and facilitate the success of these connectivity projects, which align with the Kingdom’s Economic Vision 2030 and reflect a broader commitment to regional cooperation and prosperity.

H.E. Minister Al Thani expressed Qatar’s pride in the Bahraini-Qatari relations and its commitment to enhancing cooperation in transportation, ports, logistics, and digital innovation. He underscored the importance of advancing strategic development projects that contribute to Gulf economic unity.

The two ministers toured Bu Maher Fort by sea and visited the Manama Post Museum, which documents the history and development of Bahrain’s postal and telecommunications sectors and highlights the region’s legacy in communication and exchange.
