As part of government efforts to enhance service quality and re-engineer procedures, the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications has developed the Aviation Obstruction Lighting Materials Approval Service provided by the Aviation Safety and Security Directorate at Civil Aviation Affairs.
The service allows establishments with structures measuring 30 metres or more in height to apply for approval of aviation obstruction lighting materials, in line with the requirements and specifications approved by Civil Aviation Affairs. The service contributes to regulating licensing procedures and ensuring compliance with safety requirements applicable to tall structures.
Under the new development, application procedures have been fully automated electronically. Applicants can submit the application, upload the required documents, and complete all stages of the process through to the issuance of the certificate, which is sent to the applicant via email. The processing time has been reduced to five working days instead of 14, and the number of application steps has been streamlined to four, enhancing efficiency and improving the quality of service provided to beneficiaries.
Hussain Ahmed Al Shuaileh, Undersecretary for Civil Aviation Affairs, affirmed that the development of the service forms part of the Ministry’s adoption of innovative digital solutions aimed at improving efficiency and raising the standard of services delivered to beneficiaries. He noted that the upgrade facilitates the completion of transactions and reduces time and effort for institutions and individuals.
As part of ongoing government efforts to develop and re-engineer public services, more than 1,300 government services have been documented, translated, and published. Of these, 800 services have undergone development and re-engineering across various government sectors, based on proposals and feedback received through the national suggestions and complaints system "Tawasul", investors’ feedback, and secret shopper evaluation reports. Service guides and service level agreements have also been introduced to enhance procedural efficiency, improve service quality, strengthen beneficiary experience, and support the Government’s digital transformation.
