Bahrain International Airport (BIA) is the gateway that connects the Kingdom of Bahrain with the world. The state-of-the-art, futuristic new terminal building is designed to deliver comfort and connections with a more personal, Bahraini feel. It provides a hassle-free approach to modern air travel and strengthens the country’s position as a financial, cultural, and aviation center in the region.

Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Gulf Air Group Holding (GFG), has been managing and operating the airport since 2010. Tasked with developing the airport’s infrastructure, facilities, and services, the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, in cooperation with BAC, has transformed BIA into the most modern boutique airport in the Gulf.

Strategically located at the heart of the Gulf, BIA offers convenient connections to the GCC market. The airport caters to a growing number of airlines and serves as the regional hub for global cargo companies, including DHL, which has made Bahrain their base to serve the Middle East since the 1980s.

Operations were transferred to the new Passenger Terminal in January 2021, increasing BIA’s capacity to 14 million passengers per year and cementing its reputation as an attractive hub for airlines and travellers.

BIA continues to catalyze the development of the aviation sector in line with Bahrain’s Vision 2030, enhance the country’s business-friendly reputation, and provide new job opportunities that bolster the economy.
