The Kingdom of Bahrain joined Arab states in marking Arab Meteorology Day, held under the slogan "Meteorology... for human safety and global sustainability."
The Arab Meteorology Day underscores the role of weather services in protecting lives and property through accurate forecasting and early warnings, as well as supporting sustainable development.
HE Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, underscored Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening human safety and environmental sustainability, noting that the ministry is upgrading meteorological systems with advanced satellites, radars, and artificial intelligence, and cooperating on international initiatives such as "Early Warnings for All."
HE Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed highlighted that Bahrain has hosted WMO Inter-Regional Representative Office for the Arab Region (IOAR) since 2005, making it a hub for Arab cooperation, and also serves as the Regional OPMET Centre for aviation information backup.
The Transportation Minister added that Bahrain is modernising its alert mechanisms and satellite systems to ensure timely warnings and more precise forecasts, while continuing to invest in digital transformation and international cooperation in meteorology and climate.
