Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications Participates in Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport 2025

25 September 2025

HE Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, participated in the fourth edition of the Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport 2025, organised by the Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai from September 24 to 25. The event was attended by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, along with decision-makers, experts, and international stakeholders in smart and sustainable transport.

The Minister highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to adopting pilot projects and innovative initiatives in smart and autonomous transport to enhance sustainability and keep pace with global developments. He emphasised the Kingdom’s focus on creating an attractive investment and legislative environment to support innovation, build partnerships, and develop modern, eco-friendly transport solutions, strengthening Bahrain’s position as a regional hub in this sector.

HE Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed noted that these efforts align with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 and the Kingdom’s national commitment to sustainable energy, explaining that smart transport development extends beyond infrastructure to include investing in national talent, fostering regional integration, and building international partnerships to support a sustainable global future.

During the Ministerial Session on Regional Integration in Transport, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed underscored that projects such as the Gulf Railway, King Hamad Causeway, Qatar-Bahrain Causeway, and regional maritime link initiatives reflect a shift from individual national priorities to a shared regional ambition, promoting collective prosperity and positioning the Gulf as a global model of sustainable connectivity.

HE Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed added that Bahrain’s investments focus on integration points connecting airports and seaports under the Global Sea-to-Air Logistics Hub, generating real added value for the Gulf economy and enhancing the region’s global trade competitiveness.

The biennial conference serves as a global platform to showcase innovations in autonomous and smart transport, exchange international experiences, and develop sustainable, forward-looking solutions for this critical sector.
