The Land Transport Affairs at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications is responsible for enhancing and regulating all aspects of land transportation within the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Additionally, Land Transport Affairs is tasked with developing transportation infrastructure and systems, executing and regulating transport projects, and improving the public transport sector to provide a sustainable alternative mode of transport for both citizens and residents.
Directorates under Land Transportation Affairs:
Land Transportation Planning and Studies: Oversees the planning of the public transport network and related services, aiming to expand coverage and improve accessibility for all users. The Directorate is also responsible for transport planning, transport modeling studies, and providing planning and design inputs for upcoming road and infrastructure projects, in coordination with public transport operators and other ministries.
Land Transportation Projects: Manages and supervises the implementation and construction of all land transport-related projects, while working closely with the Planning and Studies Directorate to support the long-term vision of creating a comprehensive Public Transport Network and increasing ridership.
Land Transportation Regulation: Responsible for revising laws, regulations, and procedures concerning licenses within the land transport sector, including the issuance and renewal of licenses for transport activities and operating cards.
Land Transportation Monitoring and Enforcement: Responsible for monitoring the performance of all licensed individuals, companies, and establishments engaged in providing land transport services in accordance with key performance indicators. In addition, the Directorate is responsible for inspecting all land transport activities carried out by individuals and companies operating in the land transport sector.
