Fatima Abdulla Al Dhaen, Undersecretary for Land Transport and Post at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, participated in the "Gulf Green Mobility System Lab" workshop, held alongside the second Gulf Green Mobility Forum in Salalah, the Sultanate of Oman. The workshop brought together transport and sustainability specialists from GCC countries.
Al Dhaen highlighted the importance of strengthening Gulf cooperation on green mobility, sharing expertise and developing more efficient and sustainable transport solutions, while making greater use of modern technology and clean energy.
She outlined the Kingdom of Bahrain’s efforts in sustainable transport and the ministry’s initiatives to improve the efficiency of the land transport system, promote public and shared transport, and use digital and smart solutions to improve services.
The workshop focused on two main areas. The first covered policies and regulations for electric vehicle charging, including the legal and regulatory frameworks for charging stations, as well as integrating charging systems with smart grids and managing electricity loads to support the sustainable growth of electric vehicle use.
The second focused on the use of green hydrogen in heavy transport and logistics, the infrastructure needed to support its use, and possible policies and incentives to increase demand for hydrogen in transport and create a supportive environment for its future applications.
