
HE Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, participated in the Gulf Green Mobility Forum held in Salalah, Sultanate of Oman. The event, organised under the patronage of Sheikh Salim Mustahail Al Mashani, Advisor at the Diwan of the Royal Court of Oman, brought together ministers, experts, and specialists from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to promote environmental sustainability in the transport sector and encourage the use of clean and alternative energy solutions.
The forum, hosted by Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, focused on exchanging Gulf experiences in sustainable transport and eco-friendly technologies. It highlighted key policies and initiatives aimed at achieving carbon neutrality and reducing emissions in the sector.
HE Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed met with Saeed bin Hamoud bin Saeed Al Mawali, Oman’s Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, along with senior officials including Naif bin Ali Al Abri, President of the Civil Aviation Authority of Oman, and Omar bin Mahmoud Al Mahrizi, CEO of ASYAD Ports. They discussed enhancing Gulf cooperation on green transport, exchanging best practices, and coordinating bilateral efforts between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Oman on sustainable transport projects and technical knowledge sharing.
The Transportation Minister also visited Salalah Port and the Free Zone, inspecting container and cargo handling operations, modern logistics technologies, and future expansion plans to increase the port’s capacity. He reviewed the Free Zone's latest facilities and logistic support services for local and international investors, reinforcing Salalah’s role as a regional trade and transport hub. He emphasised Bahrain’s commitment to enhancing cooperation in transport, logistics, and free trade.
During the visit, HE Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed also toured the Green Data City, part of Oman’s Vision 2040, which operates on renewable energy sources including solar, hydrogen, and seawater cooling technologies.
HE Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed expressed appreciation for Oman’s efforts to advance sustainable transport and improve logistics infrastructure. He emphasised the importance of deepening Bahrain-Oman collaboration in transport, logistics, and trade, noting that this strategic partnership serves as a model for Gulf cooperation, supporting regional integration, sustainable development, and innovation in transport and logistics.
