Fatima Abdulla Al Dhaen, Undersecretary for Land Transport and Postal Affairs at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, received Dr. Hashim Hussein, Head of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) Regional Office for Investment and Technology in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The meeting was held as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation in land transport, economic development and innovation support.

Undersecretary Al Dhaen highlighted the key role played by the organisation’s regional office in Bahrain through its initiatives and programmes that support the business environment, industrial development and entrepreneurship at both the local and regional levels.

She also congratulated Dr. Hussein on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the regional office in Bahrain and the 25th anniversary of the Bahraini Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion (EDIP) Programme, one of the organisation’s leading initiatives to support entrepreneurs and start-ups.

The meeting also reviewed opportunities for cooperation in the land transport sector, particularly in supporting entrepreneurs, start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises operating in the sector through the exchange of expertise and the development of initiatives aimed at promoting innovation, sustainability and improving logistics and transport services.

Both sides emphasised the importance of continuing coordination and cooperation to create opportunities for emerging businesses and support the shift towards smart and sustainable transport solutions in line with the Kingdom’s development goals and efforts to strengthen the sector’s regional and international competitiveness.
