The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications is responsible for overseeing and managing taxi services in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This includes issuing licenses, setting service standards, and ensuring compliance with the legal and operational requirements governing the sector.
In accordance with Clause No. (3) of Ministerial Order No. 1 of 2017 regarding taxis and call taxis, all Taxi and Call Taxi licenses are granted through a competitive auction process.
The Ministry partners with Mazad W.L.L., a leading auction platform, to manage the auctioning process.
All Taxi Operating Cards are made available through their secure online bidding system, Arabian Auction, which allows interested companies to participate in a transparent and efficient manner.

Bahrain currently operates a total of 1,338 taxi vehicles, including 970 private taxis for individual use and 460 taxis distributed across five companies offering both traditional taxi services and call taxi services. These services are essential for providing safe and reliable transportation for residents and visitors across the Kingdom.
